Re: Georgia Units at the Siege of Petersburg

Brett,

Just read your post on Georgia Units at Petersburg. You may have already been made aware, but if not here goes. Your list of GA units is missing the "Georgia Brigade" Also known as Evan's Brigade. being the following regiments: 13 GA Inf., 26th GA Inf. 31st GA Inf. 38th GA Inf. 60th GA Inf. 12th GA Infantry Battalion. This brigade was part of Gordon's Division, led by BG Clement Evans (from GA) and part of the 2nd Corps,(Under MG John B. Gordon of Georgia) Army of Northern Virginia. The Second Corps was the unit that attacked Fort Steadman on March 25, 1865. After Early's Army of the Valley (2nd Corps ANV) was defeated at Cedar Creek, VA, what was left joined Lee at Petersburg in December of 1864. I have additional information about the 38th GA Infantry as I am writing a biography of a doctor assigned to the 38th. He was at Petersburg with the regiment.
