Again, I want to thank everyone for their replies. I have not yet seen the UDC books. If they are listed by counties, then someone in,lets say, Virginia may not have a clue where their ancestor is buried. I found the list from Alabama very useful because they listed by name and then the cemetery. I found one ancestor using that list, in a cemetery at a church named " WISE CHAPEL". I did not have any idea that church existed, or where it was located. I would not have known what county. I would love to see a list such as Alabama's for Georgia. I think with the help of the SCV, the UDC, and individuals we could compile a list by veterans name, county, and then burial place. ( church, private family cemetery, city, county,cemeteries)
I am quite sure there are hundreds if not thousands of names on graves in the state of Ga. that have not been researched and therefore would not show up on lists of graves. I realize this would be a giant undertaking, but I know with the help of everyone this can be accomplished in a relative short period of time using the internet and other means of communication. I am not an internet expert, as far as having or starting a web page. But I am tossing my hat in the ring as a volunteer to help. any one else wanting to volunteer?????
