Ms. Galloway,

I am not sure of your sources that you referenced but there is not a Bowan in the 39th Georgia. There is a William A.J. Bowman, Jr. in Company C, however, he was killed in the battle of Baker's Creek (16 May 1863) and his father William, Sr. was wounded, and another relative of his was wounded.

Company C, 39th Georgia's home county was from Whitfield County.
