A big THANK YOU for your response. I guess I have to determine which William is my ancestor but this opens another door for me!!! The last William you wrote probably does not belong to my family.. He is too old. My William was born 17 OCT 1843. So in 1862, he would be 19, not 25.

I probably have to determine which company was formed in Clayton Co by the 44th. I did notice something unusual, the 1st two Williams you wrote enlisted on the same day!!!
