I have not seen the service records. I have heard stories from my grandmother and mother that at some point he became separated from his unit, went up to a house to see if he could obtain food, the lady of the house was outside cooking, and she warned him away because there were Federal troops in the house she was cooking for. She acted like she had burned the food and scraped it onto a rock for him to get after darkness fell. The pass I talked about is in a small gray account notebook. I also has a note to J.M. Anderson. Co. A, McDonald's Batallion about a gray horse that Anderson picked up At Murfreesboro that belonged to D? Lundy, Landry of the 10th ? Regiment, asking if Anderson had the horse as E. Hattaway had bought the horse. No Date There is also a receipt in different handwriting that is Dated April 14, 1864 for Ten Dollars. If you have any idea where the unit was in January, I would appreciate knowing. The pass says that E. Hattaway was allowed to remain at P or R and the second word may be House. Thanks for the information.
