Here are what we find in the service record files of these two men.

We really need to place the hard copy files down in front of us to sort all the information out.

Note, you need to point out that outside of their regimental files, the majority of files are filed under Microform M331 Compiled Service Records of Confederate General and Staff Officer, etc. . .

CSR files of the 13th do not contain records for Amiss

13th Battalion, North Carolina Light Artillery

13th Artillery Battalion was organized in December, 1863, with six companies. The men were from the counties of Cumberland, New Hanover, Beaufort, Orange, Craven, and Wake. It did not serve as one command. Companies A, B, C, D, and E were assigned to the Department of North Carolina and Southern Virginia, fought at Bentonville, and surrendered with the Army of Tennessee. Company F (Branch Artillery) served with the Army of Northern Virginia and surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse. Lieutenant Colonel Joseph B. Starr was in command.

July 25, 1862 Relieved from duty with 19th Miss. Vol. and ordered to report to Surg. ?.?. McGuire, Med. Director of Gen.

Jackson's Army.
