I contacted the Ponca City Library. They have the date you gave, Sept. 15, 1939, on microfilm. The lady I spoke with on the phone said she would give the info to their genealogist who would try to locate the article and send me a copy.

There has been extensive discussion on these message boards about the attack on the Wichita Agency and the subsequent Tonkawa Massacre. Most of these have been archived. The best sources we located were the afore mentioned article in the Chronicles of Oklahoma on Horace P. Jones, a letter in the Pratt Papers (see http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/bbs53x/itcwmb/arch_config.pl?read=2165 ), and a letter in the appendix of one of Annie Abel's books (see http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/bbs53x/itcwmb/arch_config.pl?read=2151 ).
