Ken,

I'm looking at the road network in general terms. I've just noticed that every map of the I.T. is a little different. Some of the differences are minor and some are more substantial.

If you look at enough maps of the Texas Road there seems to be a lot variations though most are minor.

The Texas road, the Wire road, and the state line road are pretty clear but the east west stuff is less clear to me anyway.

I'm beginning to accept that the Henry Jackson map may be about as good as it gets. I agree about the O.R. maps being imprecise. There is not much detail in the I.T. plates. Most of the maps I've found in other books are very inadequate. The book with the best maps in my opinion is the Haimerl book on Clarkson's Battalion but even those don't have much topographical info. The maps in the new Shea book are good though they are of course, mainly Arkansas and Missouri. We need to get him to write a book the I.T.

I will look more into the Rumsey collection. I just wish they sold reproductions.

Thanks for your answers and information.

One last thing. You should think about putting together a gazeteer for the Civil War in the I.T. You have so much knowledge of where everything is I think it would be a valuable research tool for a lot of people. Anyway thanks again.

Manny
