The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

Granville McPherson, S. B. Maxey and

I am interested in Granville McPherson, who supposedly was supposedly in the Confederate corps of engineers, though I find no CSR or other official mention of him anywhere. Can anyone tell me if he was with Maxey at any point in time, especially the later years of the war? Also, he was supposedly good friends with Albert Pike.

This was taken from an online genealogy

"Captain McPherson obtained his title during the Civil War. He was sent to Indian Territory to assist in preserving order there under Gen. Maxey, and after the war closed he was stationed there and engaged in merchandising, and also founded a paper, the "Star Vindicator". He settled at Caddo, OK then the principal railroad point between Parsons and Dennison. In 1872 Granville and Dr. D. M. Hailey produced weekly editions of "The Star" but the newspaper did not occupy all of his time. He organized a Masonic Lodge. "

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
