Terry,
I ran across this article in the Pryor newspaper (link below) regarding the home of Joseph Vann (son of Avery Vann and brother of David Vann). The home location per the article is where Joseph is buried in the Cavalier-Vann Cemetery about two miles south of the present town of Locust Grove. This would be about 7 miles directly south of the Grand Saline and about three miles south-southwest of the presumed location of the Battle of Locust Grove.

As stated in another post, these wealthy families could have improvements in various locations so he may have had improvements (house, cabin, corrals, etc) at or closer to the Grand Saline. Also, the name 'Grand Saline' as well as 'Locust Grove' are used for this general vicinity. These were not "towns" during the Civil War but names to identify a general area. The progressive Cherokee used large tracts of land so their houses weren't usually close to each other. A number of wealthy Cherokee lived in the area -- i.e. Vann, Adair, Rowe, Markham, Ross.
