agreed, ken. i think the seminole had been cleared out fairly well..."loyals" headed for kansas or the fort gibson area, and "secesh" gathered south of the canadian. and, after the war, the strength of the cherokee, choctaw and chickasaw statesmen and their ability and experience in dealing with the whites served them much better than the muscogee and, especially, the seminoles. there had also been quite a bit of friction between the muscogee, seminoles, and the other tribes over the way creek and seminole slaves had been treated before and even during the war. and of course, some of that crops up even today in tribal politics...
