First thanks to submitters Messer and Martin here and on the Texas Board as well. Very interesting information. About 15 years ago we made a trip through Okla. and visited forts and battle fields from Boggy Depot to Cane Hill , Prairie Grove , Pea Ridge , and Wilson's Creek. After reading your post I have been at the library and on Fold 3 seeking more info. While looking at Fold3 some of the soldiers in their packet have a card that mentions being on a list of P.O.W's paroled at Fayetteville , Ark. Oct.29 , 1862 by order of B.Gen. Schofield. The list is dated Hdqt's Army of the Fontier , Springfield , Nov.9 1862. The information for the 20th Tex. is fairly limited as far as Fand S. , Regt. and Co. information. I am curious what they were doing near Fayetteville. Iam currently rereading Federals on the Frontier The Diary of Benj. f. Mcintyre 1862-1864. For the same time frame mentioned Mcintyre in his diary mentions under date of Oct.1862 Wed. the 29th. " The cavalry came in today having had a skirmish near Fayetteville. They brought in sixteen prisoners. Among them I noticed ten Texas Rangers--- they were ugly looking devils. " I wonder if the two items are connected . Any help would be greatly appreciated.I get much enjoyment from both of your posts and discussions. Thanks Charlie Peal.
