Re: Bowles brothers, 9th Kentucky Cavalry, CSA

In Confederate Veteran, Vol.XXX, No.7, dated July, 1922, Nashville, Tenn., there is an obit for Francis S. Barbour, who died in Louisville, KY. on 11/8/21. It states that he "served with Morgan's Men throughout the WBTS." Later on in the obit it mentions that buried in the family plot in the Cave Hill Cemetary are brothers "Col. J.W. Bowles, of Waynesville, NC, who died in the summer of 1921; and his brother, John B. Bowles, who was a prisoner at Johnson's Island, and in attempting to escape in December, 1864, he was shot and a bayonet run through his body." It was further stated that these gentlemen were uncles of the previously mentioned Mr. Barbour. I don't know if this helps, but it seemed worth mentioning.
