In Response To: Camp Beauregard CSA ()

The Camp never did come under attack but the Yankees at Paducah sent several patrols south towards Mayfield that encountered troops from there. The most famous of all the Confederate troops at Camp Beauregard was Henry Clay King's First Kentucky Battalion known as "King's Hell Hounds." The Yankees at Paducah were constantly out trying to catch King and his gallant men of the Jackson Purchase of Kentucky. Camp Beauregard was also the home of Confederate troops from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas. The Camp was located a little north of the now non-existent town of Feliciana in Graves County. The present town of Water Valley in Graves County is a liitle west of the former Camp site. There is a book on Camp Beauregard and there has been a very well researched article on the Camp published about a year ago.
