Butch
The book is more of a collection of information and is titled "History of Camp Beauregard," and was published 1988 by the Tilghman--Beauregard Camp # 1460, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Mayfield, Kentucky. The Camp should still have copies for sale. The article on Camp Beauregard by Dieter Ulrich is available on-line. As for the museum, it has been totally redone by a outfit out of Pennsylvania and has totally screwed up the history of the War, the battle, and the area in general. One instance is that it mentions that with the surrender of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis escaped across the Mississippi River. As president of the Jackson Purchase Historical Society we are currently working on having the museum correct its many inaccuracies and deficiencies and outright biased information and present the true history of the war and the local area. As for the firearms that were in the museum, the State of Kentucky took all of the firearms away for renovation of the museum but most have never returned. This has upset the descendants of those that donated the weapons.
