David Childers, my great-great-grandfather was a Private in the 13th Kentucky Cavalry (Confederate). Regrettably, he deserted on two occasions. He was a colorful character the earned enough money playing cards with the Union pickets that he was able to buy a farm outside of Grayson KY after the War.
