So far I've found 860 Kentucky Federal POWs that died in Southern prison camps, but I haven't been able to find the total number of Federal troops from the state that were held as POWs. Can anyone tell me where I can find accurate figures on this? On the other side, I am completely lost on Kentucky's Confederate POWs, both the number held and the number that died in Federal camps and prisons. Also, has anyone ever heard any estimates on the number of civilians from Kentucky that were held by Federal military authorities? I've heard alot of horror stories, especially from Western KY and parts of the Bluegrass, but little in the way of actual numbers. I'd really appreciate any help that anyone can give me with this.
