Better late than never! You will find infomation about William Milton Patton in the Tennessee State Archeives. I will send you his file
number. He was a prisoner in the infamous Camp Douglas. His unit was attached to Morgan's Calvary on is ill advised raid in to Ohio.
They were ambushed and while trying escape capture his horse stumbled and fell ,it broke both his legs. his legs never were properly
set so he was a semi-cripple the rest of his life. He was granted a pension and a POW medal by the State Of Tennessee. The pension was $11.00 per month. He had to find two men from his unit to testify that he was captured. He found a Captain and a Coropral who testifed for him. All of this testimony is in the State of Tennessee Archieve file. He was born in 1828 in Wikes County North Carolina. His family came to Wiles County in 1793. There is a Patton's Ridge North Carolina. He died in Nashville Tennessee in 1911 while living with my Grandparents. There is much more he was a real character. There is a Vannoy North Carolina.
