Sounds like the scraps you have on Terrill's Guards and Scouts come from Senate report No. 1193 of May3, 1900, requesting a change of military record of status for a Talton T. Davis. If this is so, then you have the same material as the Perryville Battlefield. We read this document to say that Captain Christman's company was apparently formed "ad-hoc" by Terrill from those military and cilivian resources available to him during the withdrawl from Lexington to Louisville. If you have other documents regarding Terrill's Guards and Scouts we would be most interested in having copies.
In terms of the actions of the 105th OVI we regard Tourgee' as "the Bible". As the regimental historian, Tourgee' requested, and collected as many first person accounts of the 105th as he could get, when writing "The Story of a Thousand". As many of the personal accounts contained varying descriptions of the same action, he published using descriptions that fit the consensus in "The Story of a Thousand". The whereabouts of the main body of the original first person accounts he collected is presently unknown to us here at Perryville. I personally also like John C. Hartzell's "Ohio Volunteer" as a history for the 105th. Neither of those works contains any reference to Terrill's Guards and Scouts, however.
For the record, I am not the same individual as the other Chuck on this thread. Perryville is, seemingly, well supplied with "Chucks", several of whom are indeed good friends of the Battlefield.
