That information comes from Captain Hedden's statement of service, made in late August 1863. Some battery members have receipts or discharges signed by Capt. Henry D. Green, original captain of this command. He appears to be from Henderson County KY. His company organized for twelve months and immediately reorganized following exchange at Vicksburg MS, Hedden being elected captain at that time. Green's commission would have expired in September 1862 if he had not left the service earlier for one reason or another.

Captain Green's papers had not been filed when the War Department concluded the project of organizing Confederate records. Several papers signed by him remain in Unfiled Papers and Slips, most signed at Hopkinsville KY in January-February of 1862. Henry D. Green may be the same as the man who enlisted in the 4th Kentucky Regiment in mid-September 1861. Regimental records are incomplete, so his discharge to become an officer of a new command may not be on file. And that's all I know about that.
