Re: 4th KY Cav. George & Thomas FORSEE

Hello William A.!,

You are right that the founder was your father William L. My neighbor who belongs to William L. Forsee Post, was a little confused when I asked him about William B. and he said William B. was the founder.

I did receive your phone call. Thank you. I'm sorry I have not had the time to return it.

Brenda sent me the family history that Musette wrote up in 1935. What a facinating family history y'all have!

What started the research on your family was a flag holder placed on a grave in Oakland Cem. in Lyons. The local historical society took the flag holder from a grave at the Union monument and placed it on a Bunker B. Bell. Nothing on what I found on Bunker B. Bell said that he was a Confederate. I then started looking for a Confederate buried in Clinton. I found George N. Forsee! I found a Confederate head stone but no flag holder. The more I dug for information on the flag holder the less I found on it. In fact I have found nothing on the flag holder. I did find papers that said there was two Confederates in Clinton, one at Sprindale and one at Oakland, and I found papers that said there was only one...Springdale.

Our goal is to return the flag holder to it's rightful owner. However, there are not any records with the AMVETS that say the holder is George N.'s as Terry and I believe.

Do you by any chance remember your dad ordering the flag holder for George N.? I assume he also ordered the Confederate head stone. Terry(SCV) has put in for a flag holder for George N. but so far has heard whether or not he will get one or not.

We would like to do a ceremony for George, either returning the flag holder from Oakland or when he might get a new one. My neighbor thought that the AMVETS would also like to be present and any family members. Thanks to Musette and Brenda we have some history of George N. to say about his life.

Any information you may have would greatly be appreciated. Would you like to attend when we finally get to do a ceremony?

Thank you so much for your time and sharing your families history!

Sincerely,
Nancy F.
