I'm sure you have correctly, but the only Walter Ferguson and McGee that I found in NPS Civil War Soldier search both came up as Privates in the 2nd Kentucky. But I'm sure that you have it right, in fact when I came across Ferguson's name, his rank was listed as Lt., but like I said, when I went to MPS database, only ranks I could find on either of them were Pvt.s Hope I could help a little, am trying. Also, do you know anything about some 31 Confederate "guerillas" being KIA or executed near the Great Saltpeter Cave in Rockcastle County?
