I would be he last to challenge Dr. Bergeron, who has done so much for us all.

Having said that, I believe that the name of Co. B, 17th La. was the Sabine Rebels, and not the Sabine Rifles, although their flag (accoeding to the former owners) was constructed of two crossed rifles, with the black lettering "Sabine Rebels" above and below.

My GGGrandfather was in the unit, and from every reference I can find, from his diary (meagre as to the topic), and others, DH Bray, J.L Nash, and local news articles, they are refered to as the Sabine Rebels.
