Bruce--You are correct. I should have identified the unit as the Fourteenth Confederate Regiment. I know that there were 4 Mississippi Companies plus some of Miles Legion Cavalry, specifically Co A, as a part of the 14th in the vicinity of Ellis Cliffs during the period 6-7 Dec. 1863.
ggfather was killed at that time as member of Company A , Miles Legion. I am trying to find out where he may be buried. Diocese of Baton Rouge records only show "killed
6 Dec 1863 in Mississippi". Thanks for your correction.
