In Response To: Squire's La. Battn. Arty. ()

Major Charles W. Squires had served with the famous Washington Artillery in Virginia. In 1864, he was transferred to the Trans-Mississippi Department and assumed command of an artillery battalion composed of several artillery batteries. This battalion was attached to the Texas infantry division commanded by John G. Walker and later by John H. Forney.

There is no connection between the 1st Louisiana (Strawbridge's) Infantry Regiment and the 1st Louisiana Heavy Artillery Regiment.
