In Response To: Phillip Beshea ()

Phillip Beshea was my great grandfather. He is buried in the Walker's Creek Cemetary. Date is confirmed on the tombstone, except the tomstone appears to say 1846. It is difficult to read from the photo I have, so 1845 could be correct. I remember my father, Frank Lee Beshea, Jr, 1918 to 1990 talking about his grandfather had lost his hand in a logging accident in East Texas. He had a "hook". That verifies the lost hand. I never heard about the Civil War duty from my father. However, my cousin who lives in Springhill, LA has told me that our great grandfather Phillip was in the Civil War and that he has seen a copy of his discharge papers and that our grandmother had a pension from his service. This is all I know, but would be happy to visit more.
