Cornelius-letter

I have a letter from Cornelius to Louisa B Campbell New Orlean's La from Richmond Va dated June 16 1861. He states in the letter his Battalion was camped near the washington artiilery. He also says that he has received no New Orleans Paper since leaving Pensacola and for her to send some.He also says that the Richmond statues were better that those in Jackson. I'm assumming thats Jackson Ms and may have ties to their, college education or residence. He also says that he is staying at the residence of the Chalk's in Richmond, so I'm thinking he is a high ranking Officer and not a private, but I have no idea if rank has anything to do with where he is staying. The only unit that I can find that fits is the Rightor's 1st La. Inf. Battalion left Pensacola May 30 1861 and arrived Richmond June 10. Are there any other possibilites from another Battalion that fits the letter. I dont think that a Ms Battalion fits and I can find know Cornelius on the roster of the 1st La. Battalion. Any other names that Cornelius could be.
