My ancestor was also in Company F. He fought along with his brother from 1863 to the end.
I have some copies of some very interesting letters he wrote, including the murder of his brother (by a disgruntled fellow soldier) while they were making the long trek home after the surrender.
A family story passed down was that his wife went by carraige to close by the Mansfield battle to try and be near to him, and heard the sounds of battle.
My ancestor was a whig as for his political views, and did not much care for Jeff Davis, but served nonetheless.
