My Great-Great Grandfather, James Jackson Russell Mullins, Company H, 42 Mississippi Infantry was a teamster and was captured at Falling Waters Maryland while holding off Union Cavalry. This was on the retreat from Gettysburg. He was captured July 14, 1863 and taken to Washington DC where he died at Old Capitol Prison October 14, 1863 of pneumonia. He was one of the few Confederates to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. I would say the teamsters were probably honorable soldiers and no more rascals than any other soldiers were. I understand a unit of Black Teamsters fought Union Cavalry who attacked their wagons at Sailor's Creek VA in April 1865.
