I am reseaching a Texas Cav Regt. that was not in combat, It was used as guards, and support of Camp Ford, [POW camp] Texas.
The prison had a max of 4300 prisoners. There was a large number of teamsters in this regt, since all supplies for the prison had to be transported every day, the commisary was about 6 miles from the prison. Unknown how far to QM depot.`-
I find that most teamsters where older and many had been teamsters prior to the war. There was exceptions one company had mostly 17 & 18 year olds as teamsters.
