HOLLY, John, PVT, Co. C, 12th Louisiana Infantry

Hello Gregg!

Good to hear from you again!

Thanks for the heads up on John HOLLY, Private, Company C, 12th Louisiana Infantry. His Compiled Military Service Records show that he deserted the regiment on the night of 16 JUL 1863 when the Confederates withdrew from the trenches surrounding Jackson, Mississippi. His name was on Lieutenant Colonel Standifer's list of absentees to be recovered at home in Louisiana at the end of August 1864 with the notation that he had been AWOL since 16 JUL 1863 and was "now in service in the Trans-Mississippi."

Is there a connection to Edwin J. Holley, Co. K, Cresent Regiment?

Hugh
