Sounds like "fake history" to me. There doesn't seem to be a Garnet County anywhere in the whole present-day US. There was no fighting going on in Louisiana in July of 1865, certainly not on any kind of organized level. Laddy Falls does not exist in Louisiana, at least not now. And an organized unit going from northern Virginia to western Louisiana in the last months of the War has a strong ring of fiction to it.
