Re: Gray's 28th Louisiana Infantry Regiment

Interesting. My uncle A.G Oxford in the 28th but Co.C also lived and enlisted from Vernon,Jackson Parish.,La. He is buried there now. In the old cemetery, way down the abandoned dirt road behind the Baptist Church. Our relatives probably knew each other. In addition a gf from Jackson Parish. Giles L Wilson enlisted 1st in Co,K Col. Richard Taylor's 9th La Infantry and later served 2nd Co.M 12th La.Infantry. Wilson,a Mexican War veteran(2nd Mississippi Inf) survived the civil war. I have been searching for Wilson's grave for 20 years. He disappears sometime after the 1880 Claiborne Parish,La.census.
