Tew Parish, LA?

I'm searching for information regarding the capture of the my great great grandfather Nathaniel Armistead (or Armitstead), a member of the 3rd Texas Cavalry captured near Natchez, MS around January-February 1864. After his capture he was sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago. Doing some searching I found a prison log from Camp Douglas showing he was captured in "Tew Parish, LA" on January 31st of 1864. This is where I get stuck, I can't find any info on a Tew Parish, LA. I'm trying to figure out what he was doing when he was captured and what Union unit caught him. I know his unit was involved in gun smuggling, but all the records show they smuggled guns to Arkansas earlier in the month of January. Does anybody have any ideas of where I can continue my search?
