Washington, Louisiana 1864

St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, town of Washington

Searching for death information on William A. Taylor, Confederate soldier from Texas. Was possibly sent to Washington, Louisiana, with a severe wound, around May 1864. He died somewhere in Louisiana and did not return to Texas. Seeking date and place of death and place of burial.

Is there a listing of cemeteries being used in 1864? Did Washington, Louisiana, have a newspaper?

William A. Taylor was severely wounded at the Battle of Blair's Landing. He was in the 36th, sometimes called the 32nd, Texas Cavalry. Taylor originated from De Witt County, Texas.
