William A. Taylor
In Response To: Washington, Louisiana 1864 ()

Carl L. Duaine wrote a regimental history called THE DEAD MEN WORE BOOTS. Carl L. Duaine's notes are held by the University of Texas Pan Am in the special collections library (Edinburg, Texas> the first edition of the book is rare and expensive, but his son Laurence Alan Duaine published a second edition in 2011 via Las Animas Press in San Antonio. In the second edition on pages 195-96 the following information is listed. #987 Taylor, William A. Enlisted April 20, 1862. Home: Clinton. Rank: Corporal Age: 36 Company: G Deserted March 22, 1865 Pottsville, Texas.

I own the 2nd edition so I am just reading what is in the book and have no additional knowledge. If you are interested in where Carl Duaine found the information, you should consult UT-Pan Am. Carl Duaine is deceased and his son kindly made a 2nd edition due to demand for the book but has no knowledge of the regiment.
