Heinrich Hartmann (Henry) Wirtz, aka Wirz, was never a member of the 4th Louisiana Infantry. He was a member of the 4th Louisiana Battalion, enlisting in Company A, the "Madison Infantry" at Richmond, LA in 5/1861. After the battalion's arrival at their initial duty assignment in Richmond, VA, he was subsequently detached from the battalion. We have quite a bit of information in the roster of our book regarding Wirtz, though unfortunately we are contractually limited as to what we can disclose until the book is released in the next few months.
