A query on the Book and Media Review Board inspires this question: Can anyone give me the names of any Louisiana cities/towns/communities destroyed, to any substantial degree, during the War? We can start the list with Simmesport, destroyed by the Union Navy (along with the Miss. Marine Brigade) in 1863 (leaving only "a name without a place"), and Alexandria, a large portion of which was burnt by the Union Army in 1864. Any others???
