The Louisiana in the Civil War Message Board

How Appropo!

Oh Terry,

I've owned Lee's Tigers twice, once in the late 1980's and early 90's and then again just within the last two years when you started posting on the message boards. It's a VG/VG hardcover copy, by the way. I've started the book several times, but just recently "made myself" read it all the way through.

I had no idea what an outstanding book this was and what a gifted researcher and storyteller you are. After forty years of studying the Civil War, when I walk away from a book with a new understanding or am moved, even emotionally by it, I know I've read something outstanding. I've read a number of unit histories and thought my favorite brigade history was James Robertson's "Stonewall Brigade", but the story of the two (2) Louisiana brigades in the ANV that you've written in Lee's Tigers has moved to the top of my list.

I know I'm a little late, but I was so affected by the book, I want to write my own review and encourage others, like myself, who have not read the book to read this amazing story of one of the most colorful, dedicated and heroic group of men I've ever encountered. I know this was a labor of love for you two decades ago, but for one who has just read this masterpiece, I want to thank you as I'm sure many have in the past.

Oh well, guess I'm gonna' have to add some more Terry Jones books to my library.

Thanks, Dr. Jones.

Jim Martin
