Just before the LA Purchase, there was a landgrab attempt at Bellevue, which was met with armed resistance from the Reed party. Also, if you don't have this info, I confirmed with one of the old time residents/historians at Bellevue that there was a subsequent party of Baptist settlers which came a couple of years later.
