I just returned home yesterday from a Missouri family reunion. While there I toured the Lexington battlefield site and purchased a paperback entitled "The Civil War BAttle of Lexington Missouri" by Michael L. Gillespie. It has a very informative chapter on the Missouri State Guard that you might find of interest. The entire booklet is only 51 pages long, but I found it to be very informative about both the Lexington battle and Missouri's overall roll in the Civil War.
