When i listed Col.Miles Vernon i had a 'S' for his middle
name for Standish,one of his son's was Miles Standish i had them mixed up.Sorry.Have a little more info on Col.Miles Vernon b.1786 VA.,d.1866 near Rolla,in Phelps
county,MO.
Col.Miles served in war of 1812.He was one of the goverment appointed escorts who moved 1,000 Indians along
the "Trail of Tears"from Georgia to the Carolinas to OK.
As he passed though the Missouri ozarks he liked the region so well after his return to his home in East TN.,
he organized a dozen families in Sevier county,TN.,to
move to Missouri.Leaving in Sept.arriving in Goodwin Hollow in Dece.,1839.The old homestead still remains till
this day a few miles west of Lebanon.
