I recall seeing something on a Major Clardy, but need more help prompting my memory. Which side were these two worthies on? At least that way we can eliminate 50% of the possibilities, right? Also, in which MO county did your Henderson Chitwood live at the outset of the war? Looking in the 1860 MO Census index prepared by the LDS I find Clardys in Callaway, Hickory, Platte, St. Francois, Ste Genevieve, and Washington Counties. There are way too many Chitwoods to list here. Please give us more information to get us started.
