Thank you for this information. It is very interesting since Sarah Elizabeth Cooley Knight Heifner's mother was Elizabeth Jane Fields and her father, William Cooley. What a coincidence!! This is information worth continued research. It would help if I knew the name of her first husband, nor do I know where they were married. It is possible she lived in Chariton County before moving to Randolph County.

Sarah's brother Joseph and her father, William Cooley were both in the Union prison near St. Louis. Another brother died in a Union prison. Thanks so much for your help.
