We have it from a fairly reliable source of the yankee faith, which I won't reveal now, the patrol that went to Carter County in March 1865(John Chilton's articles in the Current Wave-1932) was after two bands, the Reed band and another I won't name. Their orders were "to bring back no prisoners". The source follows John Chilton's story only with a northern point of view. These patrols always seemed to find plenty of "contraband horses" to take back to the lucrative horse market in the Arcadia Valley.
