8th Missouri volunteers CS

I'm new here and this is my first post.I'm looking for the history of the 8th Missouri volunteers as my great great grandfather Samuel Aaron Harrison enlisted in that unit onAugust 6,1862 at Eleven Points,Mo. under the command of Colonel Coleman. He was wounded in the battle of West Plains and fought in another battle at the head of the Big Piney River. He also fought in many smaller actions and I would like to know all about any actions that this unit might have fought.

His unit was with General Sterling Price on a raid through Southern and Eastern Mo. when his detachment was split up into scattered groups .He was captured near Rolla in late summer 1864.He was held prisoner at Rolla then moved to the Arsenal Street Prison and finally ended up at the Union Prison in Alton Ill.He was released on June 3,1865 after taking the oath.

If anyone here has any information at all of this unit, the actions it was in or anything at all I'd love to know more.
