You may procure his service record file through the service noted in the Red enclosed box. His records are found in Coleman's Missouri Cavalry Regiment which unfortunately consist only of Federal POW records.

I suspect that you will find a Confederate pension filed in his name in the Missouri State records.

Samuel A. Harrison, resident of Tex [sp?] County, Missouri, Private, Coleman's Regiment, captured in Rolla County, Missouri December 14, 1864, received at Gratiot Steet Military Prison, St. Louis, Mo., about February 20, 1865, transferred to the Alton Military Prison, Illinois, March 10,1865, admitted to U. S. A. Post and Prison Hospital March 24? with Remitant Fever, returned to duty March 31, released on taking the Oath of Allegiance June 15, 1865, transportation provided to Rolla, Mo., his file contains a letter from the War Department dated August 15, 1915 to the Adjutant General, State of Missouri**, which opens:

"No record has been found of the service, capture or parole of a man named S. A. Harrison as a member of Company C (Captain J. H. Meassy[sp?], 8th Missouri Infantry (Colonel Charles S. Mitchell), C.S. A. There are rolls of the company on file covering period from August 4 to October 31, 1862, and dated April 30 and August 32, 1863, and February 28, 1864. The Union records of prisoners of war show that Samuel A. Harrison, Private, Coleman's Regiment, C. S. A., was captured at Rolla, Missouri, December 14, 1864, . . . . . There are no rolls of Coleman's Regiment Missouri Cavalry on file in this office."

** This would indicate that he, or perhaps his widow, had filed for a Confederate pension from the State of Missouri ca 1915
