Yes, of course there was what is now the federally-recognized "Eastern Band of the Cherokee" in North Carolina. They formed the Thomas Legion which served in the Army of the Confederacy. My knowledge of the Eastern Band during this time is limited. I don't know if they had a treaty with the Confederacy or were recognized as a "nation" at this time.
