Johnson McCormack is my g-g-grandfather. There is some family lore claiming he served in the Civil War, but I doubt it, since to my knowledge no Government record proving his service has ever been found. Also, he would have been 56 years old when the 8th Mo. Cavalry was formed in 1862, and three of his children from his second marriage were born during the War.

Johnson's McCormack's brother-in-law, Thomas O. George, did serve in the same 8th Missouri (Union) Cavalry volunteers as Russell McCormack.
