Fortunate for us that Margaret Hays wrote often of him to her mother in California. By the way, the family is donating the letter and document collection to the Jackson Co. (MO) Historical Society. We hope to work out an arrangement with JCHS for people to make donations to be used for projects directly related to the letters of Col. Upton and Margaret Watts Hays, their relatives and the family's involvement in Jackson Co. and Missouri history.

The authors who have published excerpts or cited the Watts Hays Letters might want to contribute copies to be put in this collection.
